Very important service. Many young people would be really out of luck without this service providing food, mental health support, camaradery, and accommodation. The studies they do are really helpful for the community. The groups they hold like Discharged have prevented suicides. Basecamp Agender is super supportive, and regular basecamp is awesome too. If you're considering visiting PICYS for drop in, everyone there is so friendly, it's really worth it.

A wonderful service with amazing staff members who do their jobs properly. They respect and support youth in hardship and work with them to get them what they need, for example: housing, food, counselling, etc.

These services are enabling young people to destroy their lives and lose their families!!86 Cambridge Street, Mercy RECCONECT and this organization PICYS have been dealing with my son for over a year and a half. I asked them to intervene when he was at school because as a mother I could not reach him emotionally. He had randomly taken off with his girlfriend and was being misled by her family, who also enabled him to rebel, they didn’t even know or talk to me. They then abandoned him. He had left a home with a family that loved him more than life itself. My son was a beautiful young man that was going through a tough teenage emotional time, as were we. I had worked so hard as a single mother to give my son morals, standards, and good education to get him established in life. He had been raised in a safe peaceful home and I myself sacrificed so much to keep him safe and set a good example until the trials of puberty had begun. I had rules in our home as any responsible parent does, and wanted him to do some chores and be responsible Like most teenagers, he did not like it. I needed some help to raise my son and I reached out for it to these people that claim to RECONNECT young people with their families and care for their welfare!First of all Mercy reconnect took 8 months to get involved. When I asked to speak to the outreach worker from Mercy RECONNECT that was working with my son to explain the situation and try to work out a way to deal with it, she blatantly refused to speak to me at all. My son was only 16, I revoked permission for her to deal with my son. She continued to engage regardless. I had asked these people to help me to RECONNECT with my son, not enable him to leave school and not finish his education and leave him with no alternative. I later contacted Mercy Care, they lied to me and said they did not know where he was, he was in their so-called care. This left his little sister and I in severe grief and concern for his welfare as well as family members. They did not assess other options before they encouraged my son to rely on homeless services, get on benefits and abandon the people that love him.I would have and did offer to throw my doors open as I had nothing to hide. I have many references and people that would verify my character as a mother, including school principals and teachers. These services enabled my beautiful son to throw away his education and they still did not reach out to me when he was severely depressed. They set him up in a block of flats where the temptation of drugs is extremely prevalent. I can only pray that his intelligence will protect him. My son had several places he could have gone if he did not want to be with me but these people that claim to help young people and RECONNECT them with their families did not investigate those options at all. Now he is on the dole and getting irregular casual work. My son has to navigate his own way through this crucial time and if he does make it through, it will be his own strength of character and the moral fabric he was taught. It will not be because of services that enabled him to separate from a family that loves him dearly. After 2 long sad years, my son has returned to see us. He himself said they did nothing but abandon him. He has been to hell and back. He has gone without food and lived like a street kid. Now he has finally come to see me after this soul-destroying time. Hopefully, I can offer him enough love and support to get his life in order.I realize that he can't be forced to do anything, but with the right guidance from people that are educated and wise enough to see that putting young people in a system that not many make it out of should only be a very last option. How do we as parents guide our children and teach them to be successful in life, when services like this automatically enable kids to throw their opportunities away make really bad choices that can affect them for the rest of their lives when they don't like the guidance they get from the people that love them?
